Solutions for a San Diego that works for every San Diegan
San Diego deserves a mayor who will lead our city with vision and a plan to tackle our most pressing issues. As mayor, I will lead a city that works for everyone by creating pathways for opportunities for all San Diegans. I will create:
Pathways to Housing & Homeownership
Housing is a human right! Every San Diegan should be able to afford to live here, but current City policies make it difficult to do so. I know the importance of housing to create stability and prosperity. As a child, I lived in subsidized housing — it was the difference between being housed and unhoused, and it allowed my mother to raise me and my siblings in a stable and secure environment, and for me to succeed in school. Now as a first-time homeowner, I have been able to build equity and invest in my own family’s future. I want to create the same opportunity for every San Diegan. As mayor, I will use the laws and policies at my disposal, as well as best practices, advice from impacted community members, advocates, real estate experts, program experts and service providers to build pathways to housing and homeownership for all San Diegans.
Pathways to Vibrant & Whole Neighborhoods
Every San Diegan should be able to live in a vibrant and whole neighborhood with access to quality schools, jobs, transportation, libraries, public services, clean air, clean water, and natural spaces, but the City has historically treated neighborhoods differently. Having grown up in Southeast San Diego, I know the impact that investments, or lack thereof, can have on a community — it directly affects quality of life. It’s time to invest in every neighborhood to build healthy communities. As mayor, I will work with residents, planning groups, town councils, organized labor, business owners, and other elected officials to build pathways to vibrant and whole neighborhoods.
Pathways to Trust & Accountability in Government
Every San Diegan should be able to trust their City government, but that is not possible when decisions are made behind closed doors, special interests have an outsized influence, and City officials do not answer to the people they serve. As a public interest attorney currently leading an organization focused on public accountability, I know the dangers of unchecked abuse of power — it leads to impunity and erodes our democracy. As mayor, I will collaborate with elected leaders, board and commission appointees, city staff and volunteers, labor and community leaders, regional institutions, residents and service providers to create pathways to trust and accountability in our city government.
